So I’m bored…

As is tradition, I wanted to start this blog out commenting on how I hope that I will start blogging more in the future…

Phew, now that that is over, let’s get down to business.

Alot has changed in my life since I last blogged. For instance, I am married, I have a college degree, I have a full time job, and I live in a new apartment. Before I said I would blog more about being engaged, obviously that did not happen. Let me sum it up… It was pretty awesome, but being married is cooler. Maybe some time I will talk about what it was like compared to what it is like now. Plus I’d like to talk about the wedding. Speaking of weddings, I’ve been doing wedding photography lately too. It’s a fun gig, when I am less lazy I’ll post some samples of my work – they’re pretty baller pictures.

I digress to what I was talking about before… which was nothing.

My aspirations to go to grad school have not sizzled out. I still very much want to. Right now I am trying to learn German and French on my own before I start applying. Hopefully when I have more time I can study for the GRE too so I can take that bad boy. As of now, working is pretty good.

What do I do you ask? WELL THANKS FOR ASKING. I work for a place called MARCO Promotional Products. I produce product videos and write for social media. Check out one of my latest videos right here.

Also as I had mentioned, I am married! I now share an apartment with Megan Thoman! It is pretty great, I really don’t have anything to complain about. Alot of people talk about how it is really hard to adjust to living with someone. Or I hear people say you really get to know someone after you marry them and have to live with them. I have found neither of those to be bad. She is still the same person and I didn’t find it hard to adjust at all – I don’t really think I needed too. There is so much I could go into about how awesome it is. That is for another time and place (and another blog category.

Cool bro. that’s enough blogging for now.
Check out my revamped personal website and my business website.

Also did I ever mention how I started a fan site for the game Ingress? Well I did, and I kind of lost interest in the game real fast, so it kind of died. But I bought the domain name, so maybe I will do something with that website later…
Keep an eye out.

That guy who writes this blog

I’m an Adult!

I feel like I should really rename my blog like “procrastinating from blogging” or something like that. Honestly, I feel like thats all I ever talk about. So the real question is, am I really too busy or am I just lazy…?

Instead of just talking about that though, let me just get right to it. Obviously, alot of things have probably changed since it has been like half a year. For starters, I am a college graduate now. Woo! I don’t have may paper yet though, so I’m not sure if that means I’m not really a real college graduate. Also, I have a real job now. I got a job with a business where I produce videos to market their products. Last but not least, I am getting married in one week!!!

So in a week I will be on my honeymoon with my amazing new wife. Then After that I will be back home in Oshkosh, then I will be moving into my new apartment in a couple weeks. Its like I am a real adult!!!

Anyways, thats all my life right now. Besides that, I have a few other things to talk about. For one, I have been watching the TV show Supernatural a ton. I also caught up with Breaking Bad. And I started watching Game of Thrones (I’m only to like episode 5 of this though). What I have been watching the most of is Supernatural – I’d say its a pretty awesome TV show. I am right at the end of season 5. I don’t like talking about TV shows too much though because I’m afraid to give away any spoilers. All you need to know is, you should watch this. Eric Kripke is pretty cool. Thats why I have to get caught up on Revolution too. I heard that Kripke left Supernatural i season 6 though, so I am not super excited to see what happens to the show then.

I don’t like blabbering that much. So I’m gonna cut it off about right now. I hope to write more, and soon I will have plenty to write about. I will soon be a married man!!! Only 7 more days!

I moved (…to a new domain)!

So, as many of you know (because I have so many readers and followers) I useto be If you are observant, than you will notice that I am actually now at is my online porfolio/personal website, so I decided to put my blog on my own domain. This is exciting for me, and for you! Because now I can add any widgets I want and any themes (I can even write my own widgets and layout!).

All in all, this is just a simple move. I figured if I was ever going to my my blog, I should do it now. Before I start blogging alot. So that way, by the time I start blogging alot and maybe a couple people are following my blog, they will not have to be confused by a domain move.

So for now on, look forward to this being my new url (, which is easy to remember because it is just my name. Also, hopefully look forward to more blog posts, since now I am not scared to post alot.

Engaged For a Month

So, I have been engaged for a month now! And I havn’t been posting like I promised… In fact, I havn’t been blogging about anything like I promised…

School has been more busy than I thought, but that is besides the point. We have started to plan the Wedding quite a bit. I’ll tell you what we have: July 13th, we are getting married in our hometown, we sent out some safe-the-dates, we have our wedding colors, and many other small things (she even has her wedding dress, I can’t wait to see it!). We have alot of stuff done, but we still need to figure some stuff out.

I have to say, if there is one thing I have realized, its that I don’t know how to plan wedding, haha. I havn’t been alot of help, but I want to be. I don’t really know what to do. But I love being a part of the planning process, even if I am not how to. I think it is a ridiculous when guys have this stigma that they don’t want to help plan at all and that its all the girl’s job. Because it is both of our wedding and it should be a special day that we both plan. It is the hallmark for the rest of our life together, kinda.

Besides wedding planning, it is really fun being able to have a fiance now instead of just a girlfriend! I know not a lot has changed, but I think it has changed in a sense since we know we will be married soon. One of the hardest things I have noticed about it is waiting! At least before we were engaged (even though we were still already planning on marriage some day), it seemed like some distant future thing. Now that we actually have a date that is like 5 months away it is super exciting! So it is like a constant anticipation. I find myself constantly thinking about the fact that I can call her my wife soon, that I will be her husband. We will live together, eat together, do life together! I cannot express how much it has changed my thought process, because that is constantly on my mind.

Anyways, that is just to catch you up on some of the way this has been turning out. So hopefully I will actually hold true to my word about blogging and start blogging more. Then I can get into more specific stuff, talk about what I am thinking in the ups and downs. But for now hopefully this makes sense because I wrote it all right before going to sleep and I didn’t double check anything!

I’m Engaged! The Proposal Story

Andy and Megan showing off their new engagement.

Me and my beautiful Fiancé!

So here is a concise version of how it all happened…

I wanted our engagement to be something special, but not cheesy. I wanted it to be personal but not a repeat of some other date. I also wanted to keep it simple so it would be about us and not about the flashy stuff around. So here’s how it went.

First, I have already asked her parents previously and have their blessing. So I had the go ahead, I already have the ring, next I need a way to present the proposal. It is the end of December in southern Wisconsin, so it is cold but beautiful outside. I pick the park that Megan and I were at when we officially started dating to be the place to ask her.

It is the night before I ask, so I go to scope out the park. There is snow everywhere, so I know I will need to shovel some in the morning. Come next morning I go to the park and shovel a pathway to the same spot where we started dating and I shovel off the pick-nick table and sweep it clean too.

Now I go home and prepare some custom hot chocolate (I obviously previously had gotten the ingredients). I looked up a few different tips and recipes online to make really good hot chocolate so it is not just your average every day premade mix. The hot chocolate turns out pretty good, in my opinion.

I had previously invited Megan to go on a walk so that we could have a small date before we go back to school. So before she gets to my house I hide the hot chocolate in the car and heat it up. When she arrives we leave for the park. It is cold outside, so we stay inside the car for a little bit to stay warm, and we read some Proverbs. Proverbs 30 to be exact. After reading some I ask her if she wants to go for a walk. Megan agrees, but when we get out of the car I have the grab the hot chocolate and oreos. She is pleasantly surprised because she likes surprises.

We walk over to the table, she has noticed that I might have been the one to clear it off, so she is pretty impressed at this point. After having some hot chocolate we sit down to just talk and hang out. At this point, I want to trick her to keep her surprised to the very last second but I also want to tell her why she is so special to me before I ask her to marry me. So I use the excuse of apologizing. I start to apologize that we cannot get married any time soon, so in addition to my apology I tell her all the reasons why I will ask her “some day.”

She takes this all in well, and I don’t think she suspects anything. So I start pretending to see something in the distance, she notices I am looking at something so she starts to look that way too. After she looks away, I use this opportunity to quick grab the ring out of my pocket and get on my knee! She turns around and I am on one knee with the ring open and I ask her if she would spend the rest of her life with me!

She is very excited and says yes right away. But I am not done, I explain to her the Proverb we read in the car was not entirely random, but there were specific verses in there I wanted her to hear verses 18-19. “There are three things that amaze me— no, four things that I don’t understand . . . how a man loves a woman.” I tell her how I am still amazed at how in love with her I am. I explain to her that before I met her I never knew I could feel this way about another person. I don’t think I will ever be able to express how much I love her. And that is why I want to spend the rest of my life with Megan, and that is how I asked her to spend her life with me.
